Testing Guidelines for CubeSats?
NASA put out this document to help guide CubeSat developers
https://standards.nasa.gov/standard/gsfc/gsfc-std-7000
What has your experience been in qualifying your CubeSat for flight? Were there simplifications that the launch provider would accept?

Design Documents for CubeSats
One of the reasons CubeSats have reduced the barrier to entry is that the standardization of the structure made it easier for launch providers to integrate them as secondary payloads. Here are some documents that help you understand what the size the structures are and what tolerances they need to a...

Rules of thumb for CubeSats?
Not many components from electronic suppliers are space rated, and those that are usually so expensive that they're out of reach for cubesat developers. For components, like capacitors and microcontrollers, I pick components that can handle a temperature range from -55°C ~ 85°C. I found that to be s...

Hello World!
I'm Sam, the developer of this website. I've been working in the smallsat community for 5 years and saw the need for such a forum. Which ones do you like to go to?
I typically go to 2 main conferences: SmallSat Symposium (February, Mountain View, CA), CubeSat Developers' Workshop (April, San Luis Obispo, CA), and SmallSat Conference (August, Logan, UT). I go to the SmallSat Symposium because there is a lot of focus on business trends. CubeSat Developers' Works...

Cheap spacecraft structures
NASA Ames makes their own using extrusions from Parker Steel ( https://www.metricmetal.com/product/aluminum/square-tube/aluminum-square-tube-6060/ ). You have to make the ends, but they work. They've been used in the TechEdSat series. I've had experience with pumpkin 3U, and found them to be pretty ...

Resources for a budding CubeSat Developer?
Below is a list of resources I find very useful: - Space Mission Analysis and Design (SMAD): The go to book for designing missions and system architecture for small and big satellites. - NASA's CubeSat 101 Document: Good overview of the process (https://www.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/atoms/files/n...
